Blessed Beyond Measure

Yep, we got power!! I never thought it would feel so good to feel air conditioner blowing on me at night! I can live without lights and a fridge, but can't do without some A/C! Of course, with light came the realization that we had a complete disaster on our hands. Our house was a wreck from nights of sleeping in the living room and we didn't have a stitch of real food in the house. So, with the power came some extra work- but I am certainly not going to complain!!

Well, we are hanging in there. Still no power, but thanks to the generator my friend Kim lent us, we are "camping out" in the living room floor with box fans going. It really isn't that bad. It is just an inconvenience to be honest. It just goes to show that we are pretty spoiled in today's society. I am so thankful that God didn't send me here as a prairie woman. I just don't think that would have been the life for me. I enjoy my warm bubble baths and hair dryer far to much to give them up!

It's been my brother's life long dream to play in a band. He has always been passionate about music and has had a natural talent for it. B and I went to see him in his band, The Cody Riley Band, at Gators last night and had a blast. If you haven't heard of them, you have to check them out here . They are AWESOME! I was so proud to see Terry playing last night. I was amazed- he is incredibly talented and the band was so good. It was my first time to see him play- thanks again to Ike- and I had no idea what I had been missing!

Well, we have enjoyed a week in Athens as school was cancelled due to power outages. We had fun going to the zoo, the park, the Arboretum and the Fish Hatchery. Unfortunately, we still don't have power at home and we are heading home anyway tomorrow. My school is going to attempt to start back Monday and B's school will try to go back on Wednesday . We are told it will be another week before we get power at home. Hope that is a worst case estimate! Thankfully, my friend Kim is going to let us borrow a generator so we will at least have some fans and food. The grocery stores in town are opening back up and re-stocking the shelves, so we will have to re-furnish the food in our house. We are so lucky to have no terrible damage and no injuries. And great news- I get my staples out tomorrow. They itch SO bad, so I can't wait!

We endured Ike. It was no fun though, I assure you. The winds were horrible- like a freight train that never stopped. Our house shook and our windows rattled for hours and hours. It was the scariest thing I have ever been through. Thankfully, our home was spared the kind of damage that some of our neighbors have. Our neighborhood looks like a war zone with huge trees down everywhere. Our power is out and we are told it won't be on for a week or so. It didn't take us long to hang out with no power to consider taking off to Athens. Now as we sit at Nana and Papa's house with entertainment/information, air conditioning, readily available gas, food and water- we sure are thankful for all of the little things. Prayers for all of the people enduring loss.

I know it has been forever with no pictures. N just LOVES her new halloween dress that we got from www.stitchedwithlovebyerica.com at the market I did a few weeks ago. We loved it so much we ordered one in pink and black. We are thrilled to be modeling for her next week and can't wait to share those pictures with you.

I know I should be posting pictures, but no luck today. Just a story about my grace- hard to believe I ever danced! Today I was patiently waiting as my little pokey puppy (N) was climbing out of the car. Suddenly, I sneezed and the next thing I know I am out on the concrete. Apparently , I sneezed hard enough to bust my head wide open on the car door. Now that is grace if I have ever seen it. I stayed calm because I didn't want to freak out N. I decided I would be OK and we would have time to go ahead and grocery shop. As we walked into the door of HEB, blood streamed down into my face. Out of pure panic for getting blood on my shirt, I rushed N to the car to grab baby wipes. We took a little trip to the ER and I got cleaned up and some staples to put me back together again. As I told my story I noticed that I had two ER nurses and a doctor looking at me like I was crazy. Then one of the nurses said, "Is that the story you are really going to tell people?" Well, I guess...
