Yogalosophy

As I embrace all of the new changes I am undergoing, I have decided to give Yoga a try. I started taking a class in January at my church and found a true love/hate relationship with it. It's hard, but I love it! So, I am setting a new goal for myself. I am going to do my new Yoga DVD at least three times a week in the morning (hopefully more). Granted that puts me waking at 4:30am, which isn't high on my list of favorite things to do. But, I am feeling so good having lost 30 pounds and finally getting my hormones balanced, that there is just no excuse anymore! So, if you see me around, be sure and ask me how I am doing on my new goal!

Sweet and Sassy Party Number One

Here are a couple of old pictures from our first Sweet and Sassy party in February. My camera was acting up this day, so I pleaded with the moms to take a couple of pictures and they shared them with me.

Party Like a Diva

They sure don't party like we did when we were kids! I can assure you I never attended a party where I got my hair and nails done and had the chance to ride in a hot pink stretch limo. Crazy, but loads of fun. These girls get to dress in diva clothes and get all dolled up before parading on a shimmery runway complete with LOUD music. Then we finished it off with cake and ice cream. Nothing like getting to be a diva for a day- even when your five! Happy birthday Emily!

Fun at Papaw's

Comet coming to see his girl! A couple of the gators we saw at Brazos Bend State Park. We love this place! Bryan and Nixon saw over thirty gators on their bike ride. As you can see, we had loads of fun at Papaw's to finish out our Spring Break week. The wild flowers were beautiful, so I couldn't resist a couple of shots in them.

Seven Years

For our anniversary we took off to Tyler to enjoy the warm weather and spend a little quiet time together. We enjoyed the morning at Tyler State Park hiking around and taking in the beautiful surroundings.

Flying High in the Trees

The whole family Nixon enjoying time with the adorable Winston. He zip lined this weekend!! That small figure hanging in the trees is me! Enjoying a little nature walk with Aunt Alicia Getting hooked on by the hilarious Carson Bryan getting started The beautiful view from their front yard We did the most amazing thing on spring break- Zip Line at NY Texas Zip Line Adventure . This place was incredible. Not only were the people awesome, but their home and zip line tour were a blast. If you haven't heard about them, check them out. It is a must do in East Texas!

Pushing Boundaries

Nixon was really pushing her boundaries with me the other day and I was trying to come up with a way to let her know exactly where she stands. I held up three fingers and explained that these were her three chances to be a good girl and every time she did something ugly, one chance was gone and if all three chances were gone then her favorite lovey and blanket would go in to time out. She stared at me with strong determination and seemed to get the concept. Finally she asked, "So, just to be sure. I still have two fingers left?" Leave it to my kid to see the opportunities left instead of the opportunities gone.

Faith of a Child

Nixon and I often have our best conversations while riding in the car. One afternoon she decided to ask some questions that had been on her mind. "Mommy, do you have the same cancer that Mamaw had?" "No sweetheart, I didn't have the same cancer that Mamaw had. And remember that I am all healthy now! Are you missing Mamaw lately?" "No, I don't miss Mamaw at all. Not at all." "Oh really, why not?" "Because she is here every day. I don't have to miss her."

Words of Wisdom

I know, I need to post pictures. Give me time . . . For now, only stories, sorry. A few more Nixonisms . --The other day Nixon and I were having a pretty serious conversation about Jesus. She asked if "the Recylces were the ones that stapled Jesus to the cross." I finally figured out that she was talking about the disciples. --Bryan and I are taking Growing Kids Gods Way and learning a LOT!!! This weeks lesson was about honoring age. So, a teaching moment came about yesterday as Nixon refused to give me her seat. I gave a long explanation about how she should honor age and share her seat with me. She quickly obeyed. As her little brain stewed on the idea, she finally had some comments. "Mom, I am supposed to honor age. Does that mean old people?" "Well, sort of." "Then I sure do have to honor Papaw." (sorry Papaw) --Today on the way to work Nixon told me that as a person gets older they get more and more " beautifuller " and...
